You just found the perfect place for cinematic, emotion-filled Colorado engagement photos at Molas Lake. And if you’re still searching, Molas Lake should be very high on your list. Located between Ouray and Silverton, it’s one of those rare spots that gives you everything—jaw-dropping views, golden hour magic, and enough quiet to actually hear yourself think.
Chloe and Mason’s engagement session here was a prime example of how good it can be when everything just clicks: the light, the location, and the connection between two people who really love each other.
You know that feeling when the light is just right, the air is crisp, and you’re laughing with your person in a place that feels almost too good to be real? That’s what Chloe and Mason’s engagement session at Molas Pass, Little Molas, and Molas Lake was all about.
These two are outdoorsy to their core—college sweethearts who met at Cornell, reconnected during a COVID bubble (shoutout to mutual roommates), and got engaged in Switzerland. They’re now tackling med school and a PhD program in two different states, but made the time to meet me in the San Juans for a weekend of photos and fourteeners. Iconic.
We started their session at Little Molas Lake—hands down one of my favorite hidden spots between Ouray and Silverton. It’s quiet, calm, and honestly? Kind of perfect.
The glossy water, easy access, and free first-come-first-serve campsites make it a top-tier location for engagement photos or even a laid-back elopement. If you’re into a peaceful vibe without sacrificing the drama of mountain backdrops, this is your spot.
From there, we moved toward the main Molas Lake area, chasing golden hour light and that cinematic glow. We wandered along the shoreline, climbed rocks, and found all the best spots to just be themselves. No weird posing, no awkward vibes—just real connection and a whole lot of laughter.
Chloe and Mason told me they wanted photos that felt like them. Natural, nostalgic, a little moody but still full of joy.
So that’s what we made together—images that show their story and remind them of exactly who they are right now: a team, no matter how many miles are between them.
And fun fact? They ended up hiking two fourteeners after their session. Like I said—iconic.

I’ll help you find the perfect location, get comfortable in front of the camera, and walk away with photos that feel like a movie (the good kind, not the cheesy kind).
