I’m Sasha, a self-taught, elopement and wedding photographer in Texas with a love for dirt roads and mountain air and a flair for style. With my specialties lying in weddings and elopements, I work with my clients to adapt my aesthetic to their unique personalities and situations and capture moments that they feel seen in.
You know those weddings that don’t feel like weddings? The ones that feel like a really good Sunday — cozy, slow, and filled with the kind of quiet you actually remember later?
That was this one.
A micro wedding tucked inside The Western Hotel in Ouray, Colorado — all moody light, vintage wallpaper, and the faint sound of creaky floorboards that have definitely seen a few stories.

It was October in the San Juans, which means peak golden leaves, crisp air, and just enough chill to make you want to hold hands. Basically, the perfect setup for a Western Hotel Colorado wedding that felt effortlessly cinematic.
And if you’re looking for an Ouray wedding photographer who’s just as obsessed with timeless, story-filled photos as you are, hi, it’s me — Sasha.
They met at a campsite in Moab (which is just about the most Colorado meet-cute ever).
Fast forward a few years, they’ve built a life together in the high desert, are raising their two-year-old, and decided to make it official surrounded by their people.

They didn’t need a ballroom or a sparkler exit — just each other, their kid, and a killer playlist.
They cared about presence. And honestly, that’s what makes weddings like this so special to photograph.
Instead of the usual “you over here, me over there” wedding morning, these two brewed coffee, laughed with their son Forrest (who, by the way, completely stole the show), and got ready side by side.
No rushing between rooms. No checking timelines. Just genuine calm before the chaos.
If I could give every couple one piece of advice? Get ready together. It’s stress-free, it’s sweet, and it makes for ridiculously good documentary photos. There’s something about helping your partner zip a dress or fix a tie that just hits harder than the staged first look moment ever could.
This day wasn’t about a production — it was about presence. And that’s what made it truly beautiful and so them.

Perfect for: Micro weddings, elopements, and cozy weekend stays
Why I Love It: Historic charm, cinematic lighting, and the kind of balcony shot that’ll live rent-free in your gallery forever.

The Western Hotel is one of those places that doesn’t need filters or fancy angles. It’s built differently — literally. Dating back to the 1890s and recently restored, it’s dripping with vintage character: patterned wallpaper, moody light, creaky stairs, the kind of mirror that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into an old film reel.
And then there’s the balcony room.
If you take nothing else from this blog, take this: book the balcony room.

The light? Insane. The view? Straight-up cinematic. The vibe? Cozy Western charm meets your favorite indie movie.
Whether you’re getting ready for your ceremony, sipping champagne after, or sneaking out for golden hour portraits, that balcony gives you everything.
There’s no shortage of beautiful wedding spots in Colorado — but Ouray weddings have this energy that’s hard to describe unless you’ve been here.

You can walk out the hotel door and instantly be surrounded by mountains that look like a painting. There’s Angel Creek Campground just down the road, the hot springs, waterfalls, trails — and somehow it still feels quiet, untouched, real.
This couple kept it simple. Just their closest people. A ceremony that felt like a conversation. And afterward, a walk through town that turned into some of my favorite photos of the day.
It’s proof that small doesn’t mean less — sometimes it’s actually more.

If you’re getting ready at The Western, here’s your unofficial shot list:
It’s one of those rare spots where every corner looks good, no matter where you stand. You just can’t mess it up.
If you’re dreaming of something intimate, relaxed, and beautifully un-staged, here’s your quick guide:

And if you want photos that actually feel like you — not like a styled shoot version of you — that’s kind of my thing.
Whether you’re getting ready together at The Western or hiking up a ridge for your vows, I’ll be right there documenting the chaos, the quiet, and everything in between.
Because your story doesn’t need perfection — it just needs to be yours.

P.S. You don’t need 200 guests or a luxury venue for your day to look incredible. You just need good light, real emotion, and maybe a creaky old hotel that knows how to hold a story.
