I’m Sasha, a self-taught, elopement and wedding photographer in Texas with a love for dirt roads and mountain air and a flair for style. With my specialties lying in weddings and elopements, I work with my clients to adapt my aesthetic to their unique personalities and situations and capture moments that they feel seen in.
If you’re craving summer engagement photos in Colorado that actually feel like you, you’re in the right place.
Because here’s the thing: It’s not just about taking pretty pictures in front of a mountain (although yeah, Colorado’s got plenty of those). It’s about finding a spot that makes you feel something. That pulls you out of your head and drops you into the moment, where you’re just with your person.
And the San Juan Mountains? They do that. Every time.
Summer in the San Juans is basically Colorado showing off. Long golden hours, winding scenic roads, and wildflowers that actually look fake in the best way. The weather’s warm but not miserable, and the mountain air just hits different.
Plus—no snow boots required. You can hike, climb a rock, or lay in a field without freezing or falling through a snowbank (been there, done that). It’s just easier to explore and be yourselves.
Late summer through early fall (July–October) gives you the best light, warm tones, and access to higher elevations.
Some locations are close to towns like Ouray, Ridgway, and Telluride. Others may require a little off-road adventure (which I’m always down for).
Mountain weather changes fast—layers are your friend, and we always build in flexibility just in case.
Many areas don’t require permits for engagement sessions, but I’ll help with any logistics depending on the exact location you choose.
You want photos that feel like you. Not stiff, not awkward, and definitely not copy-paste from Pinterest. Here are a few ideas I love for creating photos that feel both epic and personal:

I get asked this all the time. And the truth? There are so many good ones. But here are a few of my absolute favorites:
Think winding dirt roads, hidden fields, and views that stretch for miles. Less crowded, more space to be yourselves.
This stretch of the Million Dollar Highway is everything. Bright alpine lakes, dramatic cliffs, wildflowers in June and July—an instant classic.
Tucked off Highway 550, this one has still water, piney reflections, and great accessibility. Perfect for low-key sessions that still feel cinematic.
Remote, rugged, and so worth it. This is the kind of place you go when you want to feel like you’ve escaped time.

You know that cinematic vibe? The one where everything feels dreamy and natural but also lowkey editorial? It’s not about the gear. And it’s not about doing the most. It’s about intentional choices.
We wandered quiet mountain roads during Libby and Jason’s shoot, stopped wherever felt right, and leaned into the calmness around us. No stiff posing. No fake smiles. Just two people, really in love, breathing in that fresh mountain air.
Want your engagement photos to feel like that? Let’s chat.
Not gonna lie—summer engagement photos in Colorado are kinda hard to beat. But there’s something extra special about this corner of the state. The San Juans are wild and peaceful all at once. Unpredictable in the best way.
And if you’re after cinematic couples photography that captures the real you, these mountains might just be the place.
